What Can Probiotics Do for your Skin?

What Can Probiotics Do for your Skin?

Probiotics are the naturally occurring “healthy” bacteria that live in your gut and have a vital role in your total wellness. The skin is a pointer to the overall level of health and wellbeing in individuals. It has already been demonstrated that probiotics play a vital role in the health of your skin. It helps in supporting the healing of burns and scars, restoring atopic dermatitis, reinforcing the skin’s natural immunity, and reinvigorating the skin.

For the people who suffer from acne and who have unhealthy guts, they can use probiotics as a supplement, especially Lactobacillus acidophilus and the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae which will often improve their acne. Psoriasis and Eczema which have been broadly researched by medical doctors can be addressed using probiotics. Eczema is a disease that causes the skin to become red, itchy, cracked, and dry. It is a chronic ailment, although it can improve over time, particularly in children. Giving probiotics to infants has been demonstrated to reduce somewhat the likelihood of babies developing eczema.

Probiotics are also known to improve eczema signs in victims suffering from the disease. Psoriasis is a skin disorder associated with inflammation, and oral probiotics have been shown to be beneficial. Experts are now evaluating whether these interactions can reduce skin inflammation such as rosacea and increase the production of collagen. They are also examining whether tropical products that have probiotic content are more useful for skin health than oral probiotics.

Research has shown that prescribed probiotics can help the skin via the digestive tract and also when administered as applications of lotions and creams. There has not been sufficient research into how probiotics help to protect against the harmful UV rays that cause wrinkles and premature skin aging, but preliminary results point to the possibility that probiotics can help protect the skin against the sun’s damaging rays.
