Pierce Brosnan is among the few artists in Hollywood to be born in Ireland and took to the cause of environmental conservation after he was trained in commercial painting.
He found his way to London where he attended the Drama Centre. He found himself in the twilight with his work for the TV series Remington Steele.
The television series was a combination of several different genres and established Pierce as a romantic actor besides his prowess to play the part of a detective character.
This was followed by his appearance in several films following which, in 1994, he took up the role of James Bond, the ace detective, in quite a number of movies like Tomorrow Never Dies and The World Is Not Enough between 1995 and 2002.
He did take up roles in other movies too like in Dante's Park (1997). He went on to bag the nomination for a Golden Globe Award for The Matador (2005).
Brosnan was married to Australian actress, Cassandra Harris in 1980. The marriage lasted till 1991, when she died. Following her death, he married American journalist and author Keely Shaye Smith in 2001.
His movies yet to be released are No Escape and Urge.
Brosnan was trained to be a portrait painter, but took to acting at a later point of time. He reverted to his first love, painting, while he withdrew himself from the theatre and movies. He focused on painting family portraits and landscape paintings. He continues painting as a hobby whenever he can find time to spare . His paintings are put up for sale, and the profits are handed over to a trust.
